In the solemn setting of the Mother Church of Maria Santissima Addolorata in Soverato, there is a Renaissance masterpiece in white Carrara marble.
The pity;
Not the one known all over the world by Michelangelo Buonarroti, but the piety of the great master Antonello Gagini.
The work, which takes its cue from Michelangelo’s namesake, was commissioned in 1521 by Giovanni martino D ‘Acquino who asked the artist to sculpt his work more beautiful and excellent than him.
The result was fully satisfied and exceeded expectations.
