The Truth revealed by Time, or more simply The Truth, is a marble sculpture by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, located in Rome, at the Galleria Borghese. Depicted as a smiling and naked girl, Truth is seated on a rocky boulder, holds the sun in her right hand and rests her left leg on the globe.
The representation of Time, which was to be placed in the upper part, was never performed.
The work was born around 1645, in a period of difficulty, at the papal court, due to the unfounded accusations made by his opponents against the work in St. Peter’s.
The work remained in the Bernini house until 1924, when it was transferred to the Borghese Gallery and placed in room VIII.
