5 months, for a transport of just 11 km.
An impossible event nowadays, but 90 years ago, this was the transport time for the monolith; the white marble giant 19 meters high and weighing 300 tons, which in January 1929 began its journey from the highest peaks of the Apuan Alps to Mussolini’s Rome. Thanks to the old and timeless method of lizzatura, men and oxen patiently carry the giant towards the sea.
Arrived at the sea in June 1929, the monolith is ready to go, to be inaugurated in Rome in 1933
