It is the first time they are seen together. The three Pietà by Michelangelo, the sweet Vatican Pietà, the Bandini Pietà and the Rondanini Pietà collected in the small gallery of the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo in Florence:
The exhibition, inaugurated on the occasion of the meeting “Mediterranean frontier of peace 2022”, will be present until 1 August.
The works show the creative parable of one of the greatest artists, Michelangelo.
The three sculptures, (The Bandini present in its original version, the other two are plaster casts from the Vatican Museums) are the result of the mind and hand of an artist who passes from just twenty-three years old, to sculpt Vatican piety, to a man now an adult almost on the threshold of death that creates the Pietà Bandini and the Pietà Rondanini.
The differences are very notable, the power of the sculptor’s language never affected.
