Also Canova, like Michelangelo for his works, use Carrara marble as an excellent material.
Among his best known works we have “Teseo sul minotauro”, a work of great importance, and commissioned by the ambassador of the Venetian republic, Theseus on the minotaur, was worked by the artist without the help of anyone, in about two years.
After a series of passages in 1820 the Teseo was placed in Londonderry House, in the London district of Mayfair. Since 1962 it is located in its current location, in room n. 22 of the Victoria and Albert Museum, in London.
