The San Giovanni Evangelista, is a marble sculpture, sculpted by Donatello for the ancient facade of the cathedral of Florence, and today instead kept in the museum of the work of the cathedral.
The statue was commissioned by the work of the cathedral while at the same time, other sculptors created the statues of the other evangelists, since they were supposed to adorn four large niches arranged on the sides of the central portal of the facade of Santa Maria del Fiore.
