Sculpture of great skill and incomparable beauty, this work of 235 cm, which portrays a majestic Moses seated with the tablets of the law under his arm, was born between 1513 and 1515 conceived to be part of the complex of the tomb of Julius II .
Also Vasari, noting the realism and incredible beauty of this statue, commented on the work by saying that it was more the work of a brush than a chisel, while legend has it that the same author, looking at it, exclaimed “Why don’t you speak?”.
