Over 4.5 million m2 of white Carrara marble cover the city of Turkmenistan in a thousand ways.
With an area that is roughly the same as Aosta, this city has built around 543 new buildings since the 1990s, all covered with slabs of very white Carrara marble.
Along the main street of the city alone, there are 170 buildings lined up and covered in marble.
Museums, public buildings, residential complexes and historical monuments.
This is why the city was awarded the Guinness World record for “the city with the highest density of buildings covered in marble”.
