Marble sculpture, placed in Piazza della Signoria in Florence next to the copy of Michelangelo’s David, the Hercules and Cacus, the work of Baccio Bandinelli had a troubled and complex genesis.
Initially commissioned to Michelangelo himself, who only had time to make a (presumed) model, with the return of the doctors it was completely entrusted to Bandinelli who finished it in 1534.
