Adonis and Venus is a Carrara marble sculpture by master Canova, created between 1789 and 1794.
The statue represents the two lovers, Adonis and Venus, immersed in a moment of deep intimacy, the last tender greeting, but which in reality, as the story goes, will be a farewell.
Located in the garden of the palace of Giovan Domenico Berio di Salza, on the latter’s death it was purchased by Guillame Favre, to later end up in the collection of the museĆ© d’art et d’histoire in Geneva.
